Computing
At our school, we follow the Teach Computing curriculum to deliver an ambitious, well-sequenced, and knowledge-rich computing education for all pupils. Learning is carefully mapped to ensure clear progression from Early Years to Year 6, enabling children to build secure knowledge in coding, digital media, data handling, and computer systems. Teachers use strong subject knowledge to model concepts clearly and provide purposeful, practical tasks that help pupils embed and apply new learning. Online Safety is prioritised through regular online safety teaching, ensuring pupils make responsible choices in the digital world, in computing lessons and PSHE lessons. This approach supports pupils in developing deep understanding, independence, and curiosity in computing and beyond.
We have access to iPads and Chromebooks to help support the teaching of computing and other curriculum areas. Where possible, cross-curricular use of computer skills is encouraged to help further embed these skills.
The curriculum can be broken down into 3 strands: computer science, information technology and digital literacy, with the aims of the curriculum reflecting this distinction.
