Catholic Life and Mission

At St Mary's, we aim that all children understand and embrace the distinctive Catholic identity, charism and mission of our school. We know that they value it greatly and are able to tell its unique story as part of the local and universal Church. All children are actively encouraged to participate in the Catholic life of our school and they significantly enhance the Catholic life and mission of our school.

There are so many ways that our children contribute to Catholic life and the mission of St Mary's.

As a school with a strong focus on Social, Emotional and Mental Health awareness, all children are encouraged to value their individuality as humans made in the likeness of God. Through regular well-being activities and access to our ELSA and Nurture groups, we aim for our children to be happy, confident and secure in themselves. Please see our Wellbeing drop-down for more information.

There is also a strong focus on Catholic Social Teaching (CST) at St Mary's and all children from Nursery to Year Six are encouraged to respond and be pro-active in finding ways to live these principles. Each class has a key principle that they live throughout each year to demonstrate their understanding of CST in their lives and the lives of others around the world.

Our children are also passionate about the environment and are keen to protect and support our Common Home. Our Eco-team are a group of children living Pope Francis' mission to protect our planet and all other living things on it. For more information about the work of the Eco-team, click here
