Catholic Life

As a Catholic school, Christ remains at the heart of school life and all pupils are educated in the beliefs and devotional practices of the Catholic Church.

Our Mission statement

The mission of St. Mary's School is to provide a broad education based on the Gospel values which are central to the Catholic Faith.

At the heart of this is the fostering of positive relationships between all members of the school and its wider community and the development of a loving relationship with God our Father.

This takes place within a partnership of home, school and parish.

To be the best that we can be

We are uniquely created by God,

Each of us is equally valued and cherished for who we are.

Together we learn and grow with God.

Together we support and motivate one another.

Together we respect each other and the world in which we live.

Together we forgive as God forgives us.

Together we inspire lively and inquiring minds.

Together we encourage creativity, independence and responsibility.

Together we are home, school, parish, community.

We work together through the Gospel values central to the Catholic faith

As stated in the preface to the Religious Education Directory for Catholic Schools, all pupils at St Mary's are invited to encounter Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ as the living person at the heart of their study in a way that respects their individual religious identity. At St Mary's, we strive also to be of service to society. Religious education plays its part in this endeavour by enabling all pupils ‘to be confident and secure in their religious faith and knowledgeable and respectful of other religions,’ and so play ‘a crucial role in building a cohesive society’.

There are three main areas that form our religious identity at St Mary's. They are: catholic life and mission; religious education and collective worship. Please explore these areas using the drop down above.
